ChefVille County Fair Quests: Everything you need to know
If you'll recall, a few weeks ago we shared our thoughts on the current state of affairs in ChefVille, and the lack of quests players had to complete in their games. Thankfully, we can forget that was ever the case, as even more quests have been released, bringing new cooking appliances and recipes to the game! To be specific, the 25ht annual County Fair is in your virtual town, and you'll be able to celebrate by completing a set of quests over the next two weeks. Let's get started!
The Hot Dog Cart
- Place the Hot Dog Cart in your Restaurant
- Cook 1 Classic Hot Dog
- Place Mustard Dispenser
Both the Hot Dog Cart and Mustard Dispenser are new functional items for your restaurant, but only the Mustard Dispenser actually needs to be built. That is, the Hot Dog Cart comes completely assembled, so you can immediately start cooking dishes! The Classic Hot Dog recipe takes just one minute to repair and requires two Sirloin Beef, one Wheat Bread and three Tomatoes to prepare. You'll receive two XP, 10 coins and two Wheat Bread for completing this first quest.
Must Have Mustard
- Check your County Fair Ribbon Progress
- Finish the Mustard Dispenser
- Serve 1 Corn Dog from the Hot Dog Cart
Once you place the Mustard Dispenser, you'll need to click on it three times to unwrap it. From there, it's an expected process of asking your friends for building materials, as you'll need three each of Pumps, Refill Bottles and Napkins. Two of the three are earned via general news posts on your wall, which definitely helps speed up the process. Corn Dogs, meanwhile, require Sirloin Beef, Dough and Mustard to cook, but if you're having trouble finishing the Mustard Dispenser, you can thankfully simply ask your friends for Mustard outright in the meantime. Finally, your Ribbon Progress can be checked by simply clicking on the Ribbon that is in the top left corner of your gameplay screen. There are 30 Ribbons to earn in total throughout this entire County Fair event, and you'll receive limited edition decorations, along with Spices for earning all of those Ribbons. First things first though, you'll need to complete these quests. You'll earn 3 XP, a Flour and will unlock the Chicago Dog in the Hot Dog Cart for finishing this one.
Diverse Dogs
- Have 1 Ribbon for the Corn Dog
- Cook 1 Chicago Dog
- Place 3 County Fair Decorations
The Ribbons can be thought of as mastery stars, so there's no special trick to earning them. The first Ribbon for Corn Dogs comes after cooking it just two times, so at least this quest is fairly easy to complete in the long run. Meanwhile, the decorations are items like lights, topiaries, picnic tables and more, that are available for coins, Reputation Hearts or of course Chef Cash. You'll receive 20 coins, two Milk and three XP for completing this quest.
Classic or Chili?
- Have 3 Ribbons for Classic Hot Dog
- Get 5 Chili Clues from Friends
- Collect 3 Mustard from the Mustard Dispenser
It doesn't matter if you already have three Mustard in your inventory, as you'll need to collect three more to actually count for this quest. Meanwhile, the Chili Clues are earned via individual requests sent out to your neighbors.

Lexus wants you to pimp its ride in Draw Something with free color pack
If the Lorax cross-promotion in Draw Something got your creative juices flowing, another branded promotion is sure to do the same, as Lexus has brought its line of luxury vehicles to the popular drawing game for a limited time. Simply check out the game's color palette store, and you'll find a free Lexus-themed palette available for "purchase."This Lexus color pack comes with five colors, ranging from brown and silver to deep reds and blues. You can use these colors in any drawing after adding it to your account, but this promotion also comes with some themed words that you'll be given the chance to draw, if you choose them from the list. So, don't be surprised if you see someone drawing a silver car, only to find that the key word is "Lexus," as an example.
This color pack will only be available to unlock for a limited time, so make sure to claim it in your game before it disappears. Also, feel free to submit your masterpieces to the game's Facebook fan page for a chance to be featured. It may not result in any coin packages for your use in-game, but a bit of admiration from your peers never hurts either, right?

FarmVille Perfect Job: Everything you need to know
It's time yet again to rely on your friends to help you earn prizes in FarmVille, as the Perfect Job feature will allow your friends to help you build a Workshop based on the answers that they choose to several multiple choice questions. Similar to the Perfect Pet event, as one example, this feature comes with multiple stages and multiple pairs of prizes that you can win, but you can completely control how the feature advances in your own game if you simply ask your friends to vote for specific options each time you post for votes. Here's a complete rundown of the prizes in this feature, straight from Zynga.

Stage 2: Hammer Chicken or Nerd Duck
Stage 3: Brown Silverback or Black and Grey Ocelot
Stage 4: Diving Duck or Thinker Monkey

Also, while you can eventually earn one of eight different "Perfect Job" titles through this event, these are simply for fun and don't have any impact on the rest of your game. While the Ville's cross-promotion with FarmVille 2 was already lengthy, asking players to make it to Level 15 in FarmVille 2 before paying out the full rewards, the promotion within the original FarmVille is even more taxing, as farmers will need to make it all of the way to Level 20 in FarmVille 2 before they will have collected all of the available prizes back home in FarmVille.
Once you make it to Level 20 in FarmVille 2, your original FarmVille gift box will be stocked with three Unwithers, two Instagrows, and a whopping 30 Turbo Chargers. Fortunately, you don't have to wait until Level 20 to start receiving these rewards, as there are actually four stages in this entire promotion, each offering a small selection of this full prize package as you go along.
You'll receive prizes at Level 3, Level 10, Level 15 and of course Level 20 in FarmVille 2, but reaching that final stage is definitely easier said than done. Even a relatively dedicated farmer, who has been playing since FarmVille 2 launched just a few weeks ago, may not even be that high yet. You could easily spend weeks finishing off this promotion, especially if you're as dedicated to other Facebook games as you are to the original FarmVille, and now FarmVille 2.

I hate election season! It's like, all of a sudden, everyone has a platform!
I'm just so tired of all the political rhetoric being thrown around these days. It's all big, vague promises.
Take this Little Giant, for example. It can't just tell us that it has hinge locks and telescoping sides. It can't just say, "Hey, I'm the lightest 17-foot multi-use ladder on the market." Never will you hear it state, plainly, that it's rated to hold up to 250 pounds on both sides.
No, instead we hear that the the Little Giant wants to "take the steps, not forward but UP, to a new level of prosperity for our great country!" Or that, "economic stability is never out of reach! We simply need someone to give us a lift!" Or from the Little Giant's opponents: "The Little Giant has been tall for so long that he's forgotten what it feels like down here on the ground, among average, hard-working Americans."
I'm so sick of it all! That's why I'm taking an extended nap for a bit. Please, someone wake me up after November.

Idle Worship maker suffers layoffs, shifts focus to casino games
The creator of one of the most inventive, unique and hilarious social games of the year, Idle Worship, has suffered its first round of layoffs, Inside Social Games reports. Developer Idle Games has laid off 25 of its staffers from the team behind Idle Worship. From here on out, the studio will focus on casino-style social games.Idle Games declared a "holy war against social games that suck and aren't actually social" with Idle Worship. Despite shining press coverage and even a GDC Online Award nomination in the "Online Innovation" category, the game failed to garner critical mass, and currently has just 10,000 daily players. Idle Games CEO Jeff Hyman chalks this up to a love-it-or-hate-it situation.
"You either needed medication because you loved it so much or you just didn't play it," Hyman told ISG. "There was no happy medium." According to ISG, the studio still has 40 employees, including its founders and senior-level engineers. Regardless, Idle Games refuses to give up on its flagship release. Hyman told ISG that Idle Worship could see life on tablets or the open web.
For now, however, Idle Games is focused on Fresh Deck Poker, its first casino-style social game that's set for an official launch this coming October. Once it officially launches, the casino social game will offer cross-platform play and real-money prizes. But ultimately speaking, this is depressing news as far as innovation in social games. If Idle Games set out to change things and couldn't after years of development time, what does that say for the rest of independent social game makers?
"There's a good life lesson there that you don't need to innovate on every single vector," Hyman said to ISG, offering some solace. "In order to be successful you don't want the press, reviews and accolades. You want bucket loads of money."

ChefVille Aftertaste: Zynga may finally be listening
If you're a long time player of any of Zynga's Facebook games, from Cafe World to Pioneer Trail, you're likely familiar with the widespread complaint that Zynga "doesn't listen to fans," and is more comfortable releasing a never-ending supply of new content, rather than fixing any existing problems within its games. In ChefVille, that almost seemed to be the case as well, as the game begin to drag with little to do outside of repetitively cooking dishes for mastery stars, along with the constant struggle of earning or crafting ingredients. Now, though, cooking has been made a bit easier, and new quests have been released that give us more to do than just watch the clock.
Via the release of the Second Mixer, the Tomato Sauce Rack and the Dough Freezer, we can now prepare twice as many sauces/doughs as before (including Tomato Sauce), or we can simply collect them outright from these new stalls. These particular ingredients (Dough and Tomato Sauce) may have only taken two and five minutes to craft, respectively, but by removing that crafting process entirely, Zynga has not only saved us those few minutes of time, but it has also removed the requirement to spend so many Tomatoes, Onions, Milk and Flour, which can, in turn, be used in other recipes.
Thankfully, quests have been released alongside these new releases so that we'll have more to work on outside of mastery star grinding, and the recent promotion with Food Network's Restaurant Impossible offers more content still. Hopefully, the drought of new quests and content that we've seen over the past few weeks is over, and was simply a product of the game still being so new.
Of course, with this additional content comes the need for a balance, as we could just as easily become overwhelmed with quests as we could be left twiddling our thumbs. Zynga has made that mistake before in games like Pioneer Trail, which has lost millions of players because of it. On the other hand, CastleVille was headed down the same path, with quests being released every few days. Over the last few weeks, though, content releases have been slowed to once every 7-8 days. Is Zynga finally listening? Has the top dog on Facebook finally found a balance between too much and not enough? Each game is different, of course, but at least ChefVille is definitely headed in the right direction... Perhaps, for now, there's no need to worry after all.

Well gang, it looks like this mystery in The Sims Social has still got us stumped. Turns out it wasn't Old Man Jenkins after all. (Boy, was he ever mad when we tied him up and pulled at his face!) - Buy one Agatha Wall Candle
- Investigate two masquerade masks
It's essential that detectives have an appreciation for the arts. Examine this Piano closely by completing all the skill levels on it. You know what'll shed some light on this situation? Some candles! Buy an Agatha Wall Candle from the shop. Oh dear, this place is littered with masquerade masks after the party. Do you think they might have some clues on them? Go to the "craft" menu to make them by gathering materials or asking your friends for them. You know what's mighty suspicious around here? Plants--don't trust 'em. Never have, never will. We should really look for some fingerprints. That'll help us solve the case for sure. Clear things around the mansion or ask your friends to send you some until you get three. - Complete all the skill steps on the Writing Desk
More suspicious plants! That fancy pot isn't fooling anyone. Examine that Plant Pot and complete all its skill tasks and you're sure to find some evidence. Oh but you'll need some Magnifying Glasses to really get into the details. Ask your friends or clear items around the mansion until you have three. We're close to figuring out the culprit!
